{"id":390,"date":"2025-10-29T10:21:17","date_gmt":"2025-10-29T10:21:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wingssystems.com\/embroidery\/?p=390"},"modified":"2025-10-29T10:21:51","modified_gmt":"2025-10-29T10:21:51","slug":"how-to-re-configure-your-stitchport-after-a-connection-failure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wingssystems.com\/embroidery\/stitchport\/how-to-re-configure-your-stitchport-after-a-connection-failure\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Re-configure Your StitchPort After a Connection Failure"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to Re-configure Your StitchPort After a Connection Failure<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your StitchPort device is designed to be simple, acting as its own Wi-Fi access point or connecting directly to your local network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This guide will help you re-configure your StitchPort if its normal operation has failed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Troubleshooting: Identifying a Failed Connection<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Normal Operation:<\/strong> When StitchPort is running properly, its status light should be <strong>blinking<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Failed Connection:<\/strong> If the status light is <strong>always on (solid)<\/strong>, it means the StitchPort has failed to connect.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This failure can happen for a few common reasons:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Wi-Fi network name (SSID) or password was typed incorrectly during setup.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You tried to connect to a 5GHz Wi-Fi network. <strong>StitchPort only supports 2.4GHz networks.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To fix this, you must re-configure the device using one of the two methods below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Method 1: Re-configure via USB in the eXPerience Software<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the most direct way to re-configure your device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Connect StitchPort:<\/strong> Plug your StitchPort device directly into a USB port on your computer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Open Software:<\/strong> Start the <strong>eXPerience<\/strong> software.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Navigate to Options:<\/strong> Go to the <strong>Tools<\/strong> menu and select <strong>Options<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Go to StitchPort Tab:<\/strong> In the &#8220;Options&#8221; window that appears, click on the <strong>StitchPort<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Open USB Configuration:<\/strong> In the &#8220;Local&#8221; section, the <strong>[Configure USB]<\/strong> button should now be enabled. Click it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Enter New Settings:<\/strong> A configuration window will open. Here you can:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Set a new <strong>Name<\/strong> for your StitchPort.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adjust the name or password for the <strong>embedded access point<\/strong> (if you use that mode).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To connect to your home\/office Wi-Fi, select the <strong>&#8220;Connect to your local network&#8221;<\/strong> option.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Carefully type the <strong>Network name (SSID)<\/strong> and <strong>Password<\/strong> for your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Save Settings:<\/strong> Click the <strong>[Write]<\/strong> button to send the new configuration to the StitchPort.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Reboot the Device:<\/strong> <strong>This is a critical step.<\/strong> You must unplug the StitchPort from your computer and then plug it back in. The device will restart and apply the new settings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Verify Success:<\/strong> If the configuration is successful, the status light will begin <strong>blinking<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Done:<\/strong> Your StitchPort is ready. You can now unplug it from the computer and take it back to your embroidery machine.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Method 2: Re-configure using a Configuration File (.json)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This alternative method is useful for configuring multiple devices or preparing a configuration in advance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Open Software:<\/strong> Start the <strong>eXPerience<\/strong> software (your StitchPort does not need to be connected for this step).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Navigate to Options:<\/strong> Go to the <strong>Tools<\/strong> menu and select <strong>Options<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Go to StitchPort Tab:<\/strong> In the &#8220;Options&#8221; window, click the <strong>StitchPort<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Configure to File:<\/strong> Click the <strong>[Configure to File&#8230;]<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Enter Settings:<\/strong> A configuration window will open. It should appear as an external drive.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Copy the File:<\/strong> Find the <code>.json<\/code> configuration file you just saved and copy-paste it into the main (root) directory of the StitchPort drive.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Reboot the Device:<\/strong> <strong>This is a critical step.<\/strong> Unplug the StitchPort from your computer and plug it back in.
