How to Re-configure Your StitchPort After a Connection Failure<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Your StitchPort device is designed to be simple, acting as its own Wi-Fi access point or connecting directly to your local network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This guide will help you re-configure your StitchPort if its normal operation has failed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Troubleshooting: Identifying a Failed Connection<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  • Normal Operation:<\/strong> When StitchPort is running properly, its status light should be blinking<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Failed Connection:<\/strong> If the status light is always on (solid)<\/strong>, it means the StitchPort has failed to connect.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    This failure can happen for a few common reasons:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • The Wi-Fi network name (SSID) or password was typed incorrectly during setup.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • You tried to connect to a 5GHz Wi-Fi network. StitchPort only supports 2.4GHz networks.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      To fix this, you must re-configure the device using one of the two methods below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Method 1: Re-configure via USB in the eXPerience Software<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      This is the most direct way to re-configure your device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n
      1. Connect StitchPort:<\/strong> Plug your StitchPort device directly into a USB port on your computer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Open Software:<\/strong> Start the eXPerience<\/strong> software.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. Navigate to Options:<\/strong> Go to the Tools<\/strong> menu and select Options<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      4. Go to StitchPort Tab:<\/strong> In the “Options” window that appears, click on the StitchPort<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      5. Open USB Configuration:<\/strong> In the “Local” section, the [Configure USB]<\/strong> button should now be enabled. Click it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      6. Enter New Settings:<\/strong> A configuration window will open. Here you can:\n
          \n
        • Set a new Name<\/strong> for your StitchPort.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Adjust the name or password for the embedded access point<\/strong> (if you use that mode).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • To connect to your home\/office Wi-Fi, select the “Connect to your local network”<\/strong> option.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Carefully type the Network name (SSID)<\/strong> and Password<\/strong> for your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Save Settings:<\/strong> Click the [Write]<\/strong> button to send the new configuration to the StitchPort.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Reboot the Device:<\/strong> This is a critical step.<\/strong> You must unplug the StitchPort from your computer and then plug it back in. The device will restart and apply the new settings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Verify Success:<\/strong> If the configuration is successful, the status light will begin blinking<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Done:<\/strong> Your StitchPort is ready. You can now unplug it from the computer and take it back to your embroidery machine.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          Method 2: Re-configure using a Configuration File (.json)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

          This alternative method is useful for configuring multiple devices or preparing a configuration in advance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            \n
          1. Open Software:<\/strong> Start the eXPerience<\/strong> software (your StitchPort does not need to be connected for this step).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          2. Navigate to Options:<\/strong> Go to the Tools<\/strong> menu and select Options<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          3. Go to StitchPort Tab:<\/strong> In the “Options” window, click the StitchPort<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          4. Configure to File:<\/strong> Click the [Configure to File…]<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          5. Enter Settings:<\/strong> A configuration window will open. Set the desired Name<\/strong> and enter the Network name (SSID)<\/strong> and Password<\/strong> for your local 2.4GHz network.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          6. Save the File:<\/strong> Click [Save]<\/strong>. You will be prompted to save a configuration file.\n

            • Important:<\/strong> Save this file somewhere you can easily find it, like your Desktop. DO NOT change the filename.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Connect StitchPort:<\/strong> Plug your StitchPort into your computer’s USB port. It should appear as an external drive.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Copy the File:<\/strong> Find the .json<\/code> configuration file you just saved and copy-paste it into the main (root) directory of the StitchPort drive.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Reboot the Device:<\/strong> This is a critical step.<\/strong> Unplug the StitchPort from your computer and plug it back in. The device will read the configuration file as it starts up.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Verify Success:<\/strong> The status light should begin blinking<\/strong>, indicating a successful connection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
